"Do-it-Yourself" Builders' VAT Claims

ECONOMY CLASS FIXED FEE RATE*
for
compiling and submitting your Claim to
H.M. Revenue & Customs, Birmingham
Developed from the "Advise and Claim" service to self builders,
this fixed-price service offers reliability and efficiency at lower
cost for making small/medium-size claims
*including cost of Special Delivery® postage (with Consequential
Loss insurance) for sending your claim to HMRC, Birmingham). Full terms
and conditions will be notified to clients, or available on application.
There is a limit on the number and kind of invoices and receipts which
can be processed for this fee.

Clients who expect their claim to exceed £10,000 or who need
advice about the VAT system and rates of VAT should apply to join my
superior Advise & Claim system. For example, I often find that clients
have overpaid VAT to their building contractor or other tradesmen, and
I seek recovery of such overcharges from the firm or tradesman because
HMRC will not repay the excess to you.
Economy Class clients may upgrade at any time upon payment of an additional
advance of £100* (see full fee formula below) to start obtaining
this additional service, plus VAT advice if needed, and possibly accelerated
compilation (subject to time being available at short notice) of their
claim. Alternatively, Economy Class clients may pay for VAT advice at
my normal rate for a consultation, in addition to the original £550
fee for the Claim.
If your claim is greater than you thought it would be, and unexpectedly
exceeds £10,000 by up to 10%, I will still only charge you £550
if the amount of work is no more than I expected.
The £550 rate is for compiling a full claim for a new house or
for an eligible conversion, within the monetary limit or number of invoices
limit applicable to Economy Class. Some very small claims, or claims
with only a few invoices, can be prepared on an actual time basis (on
my standard fee scale) if this would be cheaper than £550.
* any advance payment such as the normal £100 and the optional
"upgrade" £100 will count towards your final bill. The
Advise & Claim service costs an extra amount equal to 1.5% of the
VAT recovered from HMRC, added to the basic £550 shown above.
